The Limerick International Band Festival
Limerick, Ireland
The Irish Limerick International Band Festival takes place in Limerick City, Ireland. Held during St. Patrick's Week festivities, this internationally recognized festival has been going strong for over 30 years and plays host to marching bands, concert bands, drill & dance teams, and choirs from Ireland, Europe, and around the world. It's a wonderful opportunity to see the glory of historic Ireland and perform with bands, choirs and teams from around the world!
Historic Limerick City
Established in the 9th century, Limerick City is the third largest city in Ireland and the cultural hub of Ireland's mid-western region. The city offers a wealth of Old World shopping, art, and cultural activities, as well as wonderful fresh air strolls along the magnificent River Shannon, terrific food, and a bustling nightlife. Because the city is perched along Ireland's western coast, it also offers scenic horseback riding, golf, fishing, and sailing opportunities. You'll also find it to be an ideal spot from which to launch journeys to the Cliffs of Moher, the Lakes of Killarney, Galway Bay, and other recommended island destinations.

There are Junior & Senior, Home & Overseas Competitions in each category to add to the fun!
Marching Band Parade
This event is the highlight of the festival weekend and attracts an array of bands from the United States, Britain, France, Holland, Italy, Russia, Japan and nearly every county in Ireland. Besides the Mayor of Limerick, Government Ministers and Civic Dignitaries, over 45,000 people line the parade route to see this huge local attraction. All categories of marching bands are welcome to attend.
Drill & Dance Team Competition
This is an incredible opportunity to display your team's skill and dexterity! Whether it's Dance Team, Pom-Pom, Cheer, Flag/Rifle (Military Style), Twirl/Majorette, or Disco Dance you won't want to miss it. Teams from Ireland join with visiting teams from the United States, Britain, Holland, Italy, France, Slovenia and other countries for a memorable day of inspired competition and visual brilliance.
Band Recital Competition
Display your band's expertise and let your repertoire shine in the acoustically perfect, visually stunning confines of the University Concert Hall, Limerick -- all in front of the Mayor of Limerick other Civic Dignitaries and distinguished guests. Bands from all over Ireland join with teams from the United States, Britain, Italy, France and other countries for a splendid evening of superb music. Concert, Brass, Jazz, Accordion and Orchestras are encouraged to attend.
Choral Competition
This relatively new event has been created to provide a performance opportunity for the many choirs who visit Ireland during St. Patrick's week. The stately University Concert Hall, located on the campus of the University of Limerick, gives choirs the perfect acoustic and visual backdrop to showcase their repertoire of songs -- all to the delight of Irish dignitaries and the international crowd in attendance.
