Puerto Rico

By the time you’re through, you’ll be calling it la isla del encanto, too – Puerto Rico really is an island of enchantment. Wildlife abounds, including the only tropical rainforest in the US national parks system and shoreline teeming with beautiful, honest-to-goodness glowing creatures.  If the natural world isn’t enough, add to your adventure historic cities like Old San Juan with its stone walls and Ponce with its historic Taíno village.  The history is layered as thick as the rainforest. And the best part? A trip to Puerto Rico feels exotic, but you won’t even need your passport. Home sweet adventure!

El Yunque National Forest:  Don’t miss El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rainforest in the US national parks system. El Yunque has no large primates and few snakes, just plenty of lush green plant life and tropical birds, so you can enjoy all the awe and wonder of the wilderness with none of the fear that you might be eaten.

Bioluminescent Night Bay Tour:  Splash around in one of Puerto Rico’s bioluminescent bays, where microscopic creatures make the water glow around anything that moves. Finally, a way to marry your love of swimming and your appreciation for glitter! Take a guided boat or kayak tour, or hop in with your snorkel to see it for yourself.
